8 reasons to love acupuncture

8 reasons to love acupuncture
  1. It stimulates your own body’s ability to heal.

Insertion of fine needles at specific points in the body signals release of the body’s own natural painkillers, hormones and anti-inflammatory factors. Circulation is also boosted, which brings these more effectively around the body to where they are needed.

  1.   Acupuncture will allow you to have better sleep and more energy

Patients often come to see me with the goal of getting more sleep and having more energy and acupuncture works really well for these.  Quite often though, patients coming to see me for other reasons return reporting improved sleep and energy levels.

  1.   Acupuncture reduces, and in some cases eliminates pain completely

Acupuncture is probably best known for its’ effect on pain in the body.  It can help with acute injuries, chronic pain conditions and help eliminate headaches and migraines.

  1.    Acupuncture works really well on a range of different internal conditions

Acupuncture helps improve the symptoms of respiratory, circulatory, digestive and cardiovascular conditions.  It also boosts the immune system and helps with skin conditions.

  1.    Acupuncture continues to work long after the end of the treatment course

One of the most remarkable and significant findings in recent clinical trials was that once a patient had completed the course of treatments and had an improvement in symptoms, these improvements were maintained for up to a year after the treatment ceased.  This is in contrast to the patients receiving placebo acupuncture who reported an improvement in symptoms during treatment, but as soon as treatment ceased, so too did any reported improvement.

  1.   Acupuncture can help treat mental/emotional conditions

Acupuncture has an overall relaxing effect and can help with feelings of anxiety, depression, nervousness and stress.  It can be combined with other therapies where necessary.

  1.   Acupuncture reduces side effects of medications

Some patients with long term illnesses will need to take medications for these which, along with benefits, can bring negative side effects such as nausea and other digestive complaints.  Acupuncture can help relieve the side effects and allow the patient to continue taking their medication.

  1.  Acupuncture can help keep you healthy

Many people are now using acupuncture to help maintain their health and allow them to have the energy for a busy schedule and be less likely to succumb to colds and flus.
